Rotary Club of Pinjarra Donates to the St John’s Church Restoration Appeal

The Murray community is rallying to save one of Western Australia’s oldest church buildings, St John’s Church in Pinjarra.

The Shire of Murray has opened the St John’s Church Fundraising Appeal which aims to raise $400,000 for restoration works. The Shire of Murray is finalising ownership of the church from the Anglican Diocese of Bunbury, to ensure it continues to contribute to Pinjarra’s social fabric and sense of place.

Public ownership enables a continuous foreshore reserve within the town and the ability to explore community beneficial, tourism and educational opportunities.

A Heritage Appeal for St John’s Church has been established through National Trust of Western Australia to enable tax deductible community funding, for donations over $2.

The Shire of Murray President Cr. David Bolt was presented with a cheque (value $2,500-00) by the Rotary Club of Pinjarra as the Club’s donation to the Shire’s St John’s Anglican Church Restoration Fund when he attended a recent Club meeting. Cr. Bolt thanked the Club for its contribution to the Fund, and noted that the donation reflects the willingness of the Shire of Murray community has to support this project.
