The Federal Member for Canning, Andrew Hastie, has formally opened a new Bicycle and Storage Shed at Fairbridge on Thursday 21st November 2019.
The Shed has been built for the storage and maintenance of the Fairbridge Village fleet of bicycles. It replaces a much older building on the site that was only 28 square metres in size and no longer fit for purpose.
Fairbridge Western Australia Inc, approached the Rotary Club of Pinjarra for assistance in the construction of this completely new Shed. The fundraising was so successful that the final Shed is 70 sq metres with a 16 sq metre covered area outside the main shed. Water and power are connected to the shed, and includes work areas and storage space.

Recent years have seen increased numbers of Fairbridge Students and visitors regularly become involved in team building and leadership development activities at Fairbridge. The use of physical exercise equipment, including bicycles, has lead to greater attendance rates at Fairbridge Independent School, which in turn leads to better social cohesion outcomes. The shed is now ready for use by students and teachers.
Project Manager Tom Quirk observed that over $25,000 (including “in kind contributions”) has been received from donors:
